FREDERICTON FUSION GEARS UP FOR 2025-2026 SEASON WITH EXPANDED PROGRAMMING FOR ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS
Registration Opens August 1
The Fredericton Youth Basketball Association (FYBA) is set to launch another exciting season of hoops this fall, with its 2025-2026 programs catering to youth of all ages and skill levels. From the foundational Jr. NBA programs for the youngest athletes to the high-performance Competitive teams and inclusive City League, Fusion Basketball continues to provide a comprehensive basketball experience for players across the capital region.
Jr. NBA: A First Taste of the Game
For the youngest ballers, the Jr. NBA program welcomes U7 players born in 2019 or 2020 (co-ed) and U9 players born in 2017 or 2018 (boys and girls). Open to all skill levels, this program offers two sessions per week — one during the week and one on weekend mornings — and focuses on fundamental skill development through a nationally standardized curriculum designed by Canada Basketball. Every player receives a jersey and basketball, and sessions are led by trained parent coaches. The season runs from October to March.
Competitive Program: For the Dedicated Athlete
Fusion’s Competitive Program returns for boys and girls in U11 through U14 (born 2012-2016), offering a more intense and challenging basketball experience. Team selection is done through try-outs, with two practices per week, travel to games and tournaments outside the city, and participation in Basketball New Brunswick’s Provincial Championships. With a higher commitment level, this stream includes competitive fees, team fundraising, and guidance from NCCP-certified head coaches. It’s the ideal option for players looking to push their game to the next level.
City League: Local, Fun, and Team-Focused
Fusion’s City League provides a welcoming environment for players who want a structured yet lower-commitment experience. Open to U11 through U14 (born 2012-2016), the league features one weekly practice, Friday night games in Fredericton officiated by junior referees, and equal playing time for all. Every team has an assigned coach, and players receive a jersey top. Like the Jr. NBA program, the City League season also runs from October to March.
Registration Opens August 1
Families are encouraged to mark their calendars — registration for all programs opens August 1. Spots are expected to fill quickly, especially in the Jr. NBA and Competitive divisions, so early registration is recommended.
