Player Eligibility and Registration Policy
Objective: Address age group eligibility for participants in our youth basketball program, while providing guidelines for the practice of "playing up" to maintain fairness, safety, and developmental appropriateness.
FYBA Fusion is committed to fostering a safe, fair, and developmentally appropriate environment for all participants in its youth basketball program; and
It is essential to establish clear guidelines regarding age group eligibility to ensure the integrity of divisions and enhance the positive experience for players, coaches, and parents.
Policy
- Age Group Determination: Participants will be assigned to age groups based on their birth year.
JR NBA U7: Born in 2018 or 2019 - JR NBA U9: Born in 2016 or 2017
- U11 : Born in 2014 or 2015
- U12 : Born in 2013
- U13 : Born in 2012
- U14 : Born in 2011
- Age-appropriate competition ensures that players are engaged in activities aligned with their developmental stage, reducing the risk of injury and providing a positive and supportive environment.
- Playing Up Exception: Participants are expected to compete in their designated age group. An exception to this rule may be granted under the following conditions:
- The player recommended to "play up" must be evaluated as one of the top 5 players in the U14 A division.
- There must be agreement among the executive committee that the number of players "playing up" does not disadvantage or diminish the quality of the age group they were originally intended to play in.
